FDP Private Wealth Management — Intégra Web Application (ASP)
Classic ASP/VBScript to C# and ASP.NET
Section titled “Classic ASP/VBScript to C# and ASP.NET”FDP Private Wealth Management was founded in 1978 by the Fédération des médecins spécialistes du Québec to serve the financial needs and interests of professionals. Created by and for professionals, the organization provides customized wealth-management solutions to physicians, dentists, notaries, architects, pharmacists, and other professionals.
Modernizing the Intégra Application
Section titled “Modernizing the Intégra Application”FDP Private Wealth Management engaged Great Migrations to help modernize Intégra, a substantial Classic ASP and VBScript application that had evolved over more than 25 years.
The application contained approximately 79,000 lines of server-side logic and 61,000 lines of markup distributed across 227 ASP pages and 46 include files. The system also made extensive use of COM-based services and libraries.
Project Highlights
Section titled “Project Highlights”| Metric | Project Scope |

| Website structure | 227 ASP pages and 46 include files |
| Program members | 345 unique subprograms |
| COM integration | 104,977 calls involving 134 unique members from 36 classes in 6 COM components |
| Compatibility analysis | 3,249 occurrences across 10 potential language-compatibility issue types |
| Target platform | C#, ASP.NET Web Application, .NET Framework 4.8.1 |
The Great Migrations Solution
Section titled “The Great Migrations Solution”Great Migrations completed an Enhanced Jump Start proof-of-concept translation that provided FDP Private Wealth Management’s development team with a build-complete C# version of the Intégra site, ready to run, debug, test, and refactor.
The translated system included:
- A C# ASP.NET Web Application targeting .NET Framework 4.8.1
- ADODB interoperability for the existing data-access model
- Conversion of Scripting.Dictionary objects to strongly typed generic dictionaries
- Replacement of dependencies on Scripting, MSXML, WinHttp, RegExp, and related COM services with .NET equivalents
- Integration of the Great Migrations compatibility services, provided as maintainable C# source code
The automated translation process also allowed migration rules to be refined and the complete application to be regenerated quickly. An individual Intégra site translation required approximately ten seconds, making iterative corrections and improvements practical.
Testing and Transition
Section titled “Testing and Transition”FDP Private Wealth Management’s team conducted an extensive beta-testing and debugging effort on the translated .NET application. The client estimated that approximately four person-months were spent testing and completing the port and described that investment as a very good return given the size of the application.
The testing process also produced detailed technical feedback that helped identify opportunities to improve handling of character encoding, empty-string semantics, database connection lifetimes, embedded ASP markup, and variables whose legacy usage required variant-type inference.
Project Outcome
Section titled “Project Outcome”In its final project update, FDP Private Wealth Management reported that it was preparing to retire the VBScript application after more than 25 years of service. The client concluded that the modernization likely would not have been practical—or would have been considerably more expensive—without Great Migrations’ technology and expertise.
Moving Intégra to C# and .NET positioned the application and its development team for greater productivity, maintainability, and continued evolution on a supported technology platform.
FDP Testimonial
Section titled “FDP Testimonial”![]() | “Considering the size of the project, the approximately four person-months we spent testing and debugging the port represented a very good return on investment. After more than 25 years, we are now VBScript free. This probably would not have been possible—or would have cost us much more—without Great Migrations’ expertise. The system and our development work will be much more productive in C# and .NET.” |
